THE SCHWARZSCHILD SOLUTION

Danish duo Kenton Slash Demon recently brought out the final part of their 'Schwarzschild Solution' triptych, a trilogy of EPs released on Tartelet Records.
As the name suggests, the releases are inspired by the Schwarzschild theory on the galaxy and the elements that form it. Sun is probably the most airy one of the three, while Matter is much gloomier - not in the least bit because of the haunting vocals by Oh No Ono. Daemon then, features vocals by Bear In Heaven as well as their bandmate from When Saints Go Machine and forms a perfect ending to the trilogy.
These are three delicate pieces of electronica of which I find it hard to pick a favourite, but I think for most people that favourite would vary depending on the mood you're in. The three singles each reveal their own character yet form a well-balanced unit as a whole.
Also, Daemon has a great video consisting entirely of analogue wireframes (=strings, nails and lights). If you haven't seen it yet, watch it on vimeo.
And then buy part I, II & III!

HOME VIDEO

Home Video, previously known for that incredibly beautiful 'Penguin' single that got remixed by Tim Goldsworthy, are back with a new album 'The Automatic Process'.
'The Smoke', featured on the new album, is rather melancholic and - it has to be noted - quite stunning. The Midnight Sun remix however, is most surprising; the jazzy and light tone of it doesn't in the least bit suggest it comes from such a heavy-loaded original. Both are great in their own way though.
Last but not least it's worth mentioning that band itself is quite good at remixing too, seen as their remix for Bear in Heaven is quite the stunner as well.

YOU DO YOU

Remember that remix Bear In Heaven made of Crystal Castles that was rather amazing? Turns out they themselves have passed on their tracks to be remixed by (among others) The Hundred In The Hands, The Field, High Places, Pink Skull, etc. and compiled a remix album with the results. Highlight of the album has to be Studio's remix though. The last few remixes of the Swedish duo have been consistently flawless and this one is no exception. 'Beast rest Forth Mouth: Remixed' came out just last month, on Dreamboat Records. Get it here

BEAR IN HEAVEN

To be perfectly honest, I haven't taken the effort to listen to Crystal Castles' new album yet. If you haven't either, this remix by Bear In Heaven's Jon Philpot might win you over to go and have a listen. Because if it's anything to go by, we could be missing out on something. The remix is full of nice little details, it's one of those tracks you can play ten times in a row and still discover something new with each listen. Spot on I'd say.

PS - Thanks to Adam for the track!
