ROUNDS

It's been a while, but summer's over so it's time to get back into the blogging thing. If you've sent me an email in the last 3 months, there's a 90% chance I haven't read it, I'm sorry. But here's something I found in my spam folder while looking for another email I couldn't find.
I'll keep this post simple, people that have been reading ssssound for a while will surely be familiar with Marius anyway. He's got a new single coming out on NON Records and it's really great. Out on 18th September.

FLAMINGO ISLE

I posted about Marius' Things We Did EP on Non Records last year, but do feel the need to mention its remix EP that came out last month. Remixes feature label mates Renkas and HyperHyper beside Jimmy Edgar, In Flagranti and Louis La Roche as well as Ronika, who recorded vocals for the previously instrumental track 'Yester'.
The label specifically linked each remixer to a particular track that would fit the remixer best, which resulted in tracks all worth mentioning. The ones getting me excited though, is In Flagranti's on the one hand, a lovely & groovy piece of summer, and Jimmy Edgar's on the other hand, a much darker, brooding remix, as is to be expected of Mr. Edgar.

Buy the EP here and if you'd like to read more: there's a (Dutch) interview with Marius over at Dj Broadcast.
Besides that there's quite a few things coming up on the Non Records label, including a remix EP of In Flagranti's Interdisciplinary, so keep an eye out.

THINGS WE DID

A release I'm really excited about is Marius' debut EP "Things We Did" that came out yesterday, on the Dutch Non Records label. If you weren't familiar with the label yet you might have heard about one of their artists, Palmbomen, who's had a track of his on the Kitsuné Maison 10, though there's a slew of great artists on this label.
As mentioned several times before, I don't like drawing comparisons, but if you liked Cut Copy on their first album you're most likely going to love Marius' EP - be it that he's quite more edgy and experimental than Cut Copy. This is an EP that brims with playfulness and energy, has some weird samples - but the kind that are actually contributing to the track.
In six tracks Marius is able to set a mood and build a story, which unfortunately is something only rarely found in releases these days, especially in EPs. Below are three of the tracks including one, Yester, that Non Records are giving away. I'd advise you to stream the entire EP on soundcloud though, and then buy it here.
