It's been ages since I last categorised a band as 'Sweet Swedes' but this one fits the bill without a doubt. Holiday for Strings is a Swedish 5-piece band consisting of, among others, Pony from Thieves Like Us and John from Peter, Bjorn & John. They just got out their second album "Favorite Flavor" which is quite a dark album actually, but it has exactly the right amount of sweetness. Definitely worth checking out.
While Two Of You is one of the poppier songs on the album, Unwilling / Not Able is a slightly melancholic yet beautiful eight and a half minute track featuring vocals by Neneh Cherry's sister, Titiyo. It takes a few minutes until the vocals start but it's worth the wait.
Some more Astor Bell goodies! Astor Bell has been growing steady since its foundation earlier this year. Below is a track from their 9th release already! You can get the entire EP and lots more on the website.
If you look up a bit more about Mike Downey you'll see he's not originally Swedish, but without a doubt deserves the Sweet Swedes tag. A very impressive discography, his latest cd Total Hearts reminds me of The Embassy, The Tough Alliance and other sweet stuff. Yay!
Lifelike is mad at Kris Menace! Woaah! Menace is using a sample of Tangerine Dream - Love On A Real Train that Lifelike had sent him as a proposition for another collaboration, but Menace wasn't interested... Let's not further mix up in this though and listen to some more SSSSOUND favourites / Sweet Swedes instead, Studio to be more precise, and see what they made of this lovely sample.
Sweet Swedes cirKus just released their album last month. It seems like they're playing a lot in France, but Belgian people can catch them this summer too, at Les Ardentes.
Yes! Swedish music again! This time from the lovely new netlabel Astor Bell. Something different from the other Swedes posted, but woah! how we love it! Definitely check out the website, since all their music is released free of charge at 320kbps!
Ok, long post ahead! Can You handle all the sweetness? It was about time for some more Super Sweet Swedes! Do keep checking the post below for other (non-Swedish) new stuff though!
